Actor Michael Gambon known for his role as Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter (since Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) has died in hospital, his family has confirmed. They said in a statement to the Associated Press, via his publicist, that he died following "a bout of pneumonia.".

Daniel payed tribute with a statement via his publicist (source: variety):

“With the loss of Michael Gambon the world just became considerably less fun. Michael Gambon was one of the most brilliant, effortless actors I’ve ever had the privilege of working with, but despite his immense talent, the thing I will remember most about him is how much fun he had doing his job. He was silly, irreverent and hilarious. He loved his job, but never seemed defined by it. He was an incredible story and joke teller and his habit of blurring the lines of fact and fiction when talking to journalists meant that he was also one of the most entertaining people with whom you could ever wish to do a press junket.

“The sixth film was where I got to spend the most time working with Michael and he made the hours spent in front of a green screen together more memorable and joyous than they had any right to be. I’m so sad to hear he has passed, but I am so grateful for the fact that I am one of the lucky people who got to work with him.”

WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story is finally getting a US DVD and Blu-ray (and 4K Ultra HD) release. The biopic was released online via The Roku Channel in November 2022. The release date is 12th December 2023, distributed by Shout! Studios. Bonus features have yet to be announced.

Members of SAG-AFTRA, Hollywood's largest union which represents actors and other media professionals, have joined striking WGA (Writers Guild of America) workers in the first joint walkout against the studios since 1960. The strike could shut down Hollywood productions completely with writers in the third month of their strike against the Hollywood studios.

Great news! Daniel is nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for his role as Al in WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story at the Emmy Awards. Also the biopic itself has eight nominations in total. Congratulations!
 
The 2023 Emmy Awards show takes place on 18th September at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT  January 2024 (edit August 2023) and can be seen on Fox. Variety.com and nytimes.com have posted new interviews with Daniel.

Finally. TBS released news regarding the premiere date for series 4 of Miracle Workers, Miracle Workers: End Times. It took a while since it was originally set for a release back in January.

The series will officially return to television on Monday 10th July at 10pm ET/PT on TBS in the US. I updated this post as well.

Just released: Daniel will be featured in the upcoming documentary series for MAX (formerly HBO Max) called 100 Years of Warner Bros. The first two episodes will premiere on MAX on 25th May. The following two on 1st June. Trailer and more info below. It is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, Warner Horizon and Iwerks & Co.
 
I assume that Daniel will only be featured in the final documentary (or special as Warner Bros. calls it) with the title: 100 Years of Warner Bros.: Wizarding World and the Big Bang which will feature the Harry Potter film series.

Nominees have been announced for the Drama Desk Awards. Daniel is nominated for Outstanding featured Performance in a Musical for his role as Charley Kringas in Merrily We Roll Along. The musical itself is nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

The event will be held on 6th June at Sardi's Restaurant.

Nominees for the Outer Critics Circle Awards, honoring the 2022-2023 Broadway and Off-Broadway season, have been announced. Daniel is nominated for Outstanding Featured Performer in an Off-Broadway Musical for his role as Charley Kringas in Merrily We Roll Along. The musical itself is nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

The event will be held on 25th May at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for The Performing Arts.

Digman! update: It has just been revealed that Daniel is voicing a character named Sebastian in the new episode airing tonight at 10/9c on Comedy Central in the US. It is unknown if this will be the only episode he will be featured in.
