Daniel: "Harry should keep bees"

Daniel: "Harry should keep bees"
Daniel talked in an interview with Music Rooms (skeedy.com) about the fact that Harry deserves some peace after a hectic school life and suggested the following..
And Daniel thinks his character deserves some peace after a tumultuous life at wizard school Hogwarts, where he was often under the threat of violence.

“At one point in Sherlock Holmes, I remember he retired to the country and started keeping bees. So maybe something really nice and sedate for Harry,” he commented, when asked what the icon should do now.

Daniel also suggested another hobby for Harry, mentioning the wizard’s interest in animals. Ultimately though, the star simply wants his alter ego to be safe from harm. “Maybe he could start bird watching – he loves owls. Just some kind of nice pastime that doesn’t involve him getting shot at,” he said

Daniel talks with 'Twilight's' Catherine Hardwicke about fame

Daniel talks with 'Twilight's' Catherine Hardwicke about fame
Catherine Hardwicke, the director of Twilight, has visited the Harry Potter set of Deathly Hallows part 1 during the promotion this year and talked with Daniel about the fame of himself and of his co-star Robert Pattinson.
"We had a really interesting conversation and I was asking, 'How is Rob doing?' And all that and she was saying before Robert had even been cast she went to a reading of the book with Stephanie Meyer," Radcliffe recalls. "And when Meyer said the name, 'Edward Cullen,' the audience went nuts and were screaming and people were so obsessed with that character. So, whoever was going to step into that role was going to have a pretty crazy life for the next few years and I think it's the same with Harry. It doesn't really matter in a way who it is. If you are filling those shoes you are going to get a pretty wild reception." Fans of Pattinson may disagree, but there is some truth to what the 21-year-old Brit believes.  He says screaming fans accost him once or twice a year, but he knows you'd have to "have some mad ego" if you don't realize "this is all a bit weird and crazy."

"I know me and I know I'm not somebody who particularly merits screaming and shouting," Radcliffe says. "There is nothing special about me as opposed to hundreds of thousands of other people out there.  So, the fact that people are shouting and screaming at me, the logical thing is that it must be because of the franchise."

Because Radcliffe has dealt with the attention since he was so young he says "It's just something you get used to."  Still, he knows he's luckier than some other "celebrities."

"It's interesting, me and Rupert [Grint] were at [the Redding Music Festival] one year. We were getting a lot of people coming up to us being really, really nice," Radcliffe says. "And then I saw, like ten rows in front of us, there was a person with a reality show who was not particular well-liked by the audience and was getting a lot of grief from the people around him.  And that's different from being in a pretty globally beloved franchise. It means you have quite a nice place in the minds of most people.  I'm certainly lucky to have gotten so famous for something so well liked."

The trio talks about Christmas traditions

The trio talks about Christmas traditions
Inquirer.net has some new interviews with Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel. Where they talked about Christmas traditions.
Daniel Radcliffe has a smaller gathering. “The whole family—it’s only a small group of us, really—get together and that’s it,” said the actor who’s doing musical theater on Broadway next year. “I’m always at home for Christmas. My only holiday wish this time is that England goes to Australia and win The Ashes (a cricket series). I’ll be staying up late quite a lot more to hopefully watch them win.”
via magical-menagerie.com
“We have a proper log wood fire in my living room that really gets me in the Christmas mood,” “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson said in our chat in London. “And we have mince pies. That’s a very English thing. If you’ve never tried one, mince pies are absolutely delicious. You must have a mince pie.”
Emma added: “We always watch really good Christmas-y films by Richard Curtis like ‘Love Actually,’ ‘Bridget Jones’ and ‘Notting Hill’ or old BBC dramas like ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ I always play Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby’s Christmas album which is great … I curl up with my cats. I’m a cat person.”

Emma observes these traditions at her own place in London which she painted white. “My life is so chaotic and mad, so everything in my apartment is white,” she explained. After the holidays, she goes back to her studies at Brown University and in her dorm where “everything is blue and other calm colors.”

Rupert Grint confessed that he’s a serial shopping procrastinator: “I usually do the shopping at the last minute.” Otherwise, Rupert claims that it’s a pretty conventional Christmas in the Grint household. “We usually have a routine and we’ve stuck to that for the whole of my life,” said the carrot-haired actor who told us they have miniature pet animals at home. “I have a massive family. We just stay at home. It’s good to get everyone together. It’s a good time.”

Dark magazine interview

Dark magazine interview
I mentioned this interview from Dark magazine yesterday on Twitter, but there wasn't a translation. Thanks to snitchseeker.com there is now. Emma and Rupert were also interviewed. This is Dan's part.

If you had the power to change something in you?
Daniel Radcliffe: I'm scared of death! I dread it. I know one day he will come knocking on my door. But if possible ... I want to be conspicuously absent! (laughs). So, I would damn well be invisible. I could escape it better!

If you had to transform into an animal you would be ...
Daniel Radcliffe: A wolf! I love the way the animal moves! It emerges from this beast a sense of power but also a kind of sweetness in her eyes. And as I am rather chilly, the idea of being covered with a thick fur would please me more ...

If you were reborn in the skin of a famous person? It would be ...
Daniel Radcliffe: Bart Simpson! I know it's a cartoon! I am a fan since forever.

Poems to inspire 2012 athletes

Poems to inspire 2012 athletes
Former poet laureate Sir Andrew Motion has backed a scheme to bring poetry into the 2012 London Olympics. The public are being invited to nominate inspiring poems to be inscribed on a wall at the centre of the athletes' village. A final selection from among the nominations will be announced in February.

Daniel Radcliffe chose Invictus, by William Ernest Henley, which brought succour to Nelson Mandela.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul

Ralph Fiennes, Dan Radcliffe & Tom Felton talk Voldemort's portrayal

Marion 7 December 2010 0
Ralph Fiennes, Dan Radcliffe & Tom Felton talk Voldemort's portrayal
Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Radcliffe, and Tom Felton recently spoke about the former's performance as Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series. Dan and Tom reveled in how frighteningly in-character Ralph is when portraying the Dark Lord, and Ralph opened up about how Satan-like his counterpart is.
"He's really sort of the devil," says Fiennes, 47. "He's completely emotionally detached. He has no empathy. You find that in psychopaths."

"It's about power with Voldemort," he says. "It's an aphrodisiac for him. Power makes him feel alive."

"Daniel's very nice, but Harry Potter's a pain," says Fiennes, scowling and hissing.
"Jo Rowling has always said that the thing that separates Harry from Voldemort is that Harry is not afraid of death," Radcliffe says.

Radcliffe was consistently unsettled by Fiennes. "When Ralph's doing his Voldemort stuff, he just really freaks me out."
"Ralph is mesmerizing," Felton says. "He never did two takes the same. ... I had to keep reminding myself: 'Stay in character. Don't just sit there and watch his performance.' "

Even when the cameras stop, the aura of Voldemort remains.

"He dominates scenes in the film, and it's like that off the set as well," Felton says. "He's quite a charming guy. And when he opens his mouth, people listen. Let's put it this way: No one talks over him."

Dan about being youngest actor to play Finch

Marion 1 December 2010 0
Dan about being youngest actor to play Finch
Daniel spoke to USA Today about his character J. Pierrepont Finch, in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Dan starts rehearsals in January 2010 for a March opening on Broadway.
"I'm the first person to play the role this young," he says. "I think it adds a dimension when someone who's playing it is actually as young as the character," says Radcliffe, who has put in hours of singing and dance training.
The actor relishes playing someone as "manipulative and conniving and almost Falstaffian" as the ambitious Finch, a character who is light-years away from the idealistic and heroic Harry Potter.
"Everything Finch does is morally reprehensible," he says. "But you kind of back him. How to Succeed in Business is about somebody who never lets his morals get in the way of his ambition."
