Daniel has recorded a birthday message for German company Koch Films. Koch Media's film division is 15 years active now. Koch Films is the distributor of (theatrical and DVD/Blu-ray) his films Kill Your Darlings and Swiss Army Man.

Koch Films mentioned that everyone who likes Daniel as much as they do should check their feed again tomorrow because Daniel sent them a birthday package and they say that there might be something in it which they want to share. I'll keep an eye on it ;)

Update: 18th October 2018. Koch Films announced a giveaway. Two people will win a signed Kill Your Darlings DVD plus Swiss Army Man Mediabook. For more info. See the shared post on this site's Facebook page. It ends Monday 22nd October 2018.

The video is recorded in his dressing room at Studio 54 in New York where he is starring in The Lifespan of a Fact.
"You've worked very very hard on a film of mine called Swiss Army Man which you put a lot of efforts into into Germany (...)"

The New Yorker - Boy Poet

The New Yorker - Boy Poet
To celebrate what would be Allen Ginsberg's 92nd birthday today The New Yorker published an article with several links to read more on how the Beat Generation changed American culture. One of the articles is called Boy Poet, written by their contributor Adam Green. He browses the Strand bookstore with Daniel. A small edit: The article is also shared on Daniel's official Google+ page: "We hope these pieces energize your reading list"

“Boy Poet”
“In the movie ‘Kill Your Darlings,’ Daniel Radcliffe plays Allen Ginsberg as a clean-shaven Columbia student who rebels against literary and cultural traditions, among them such poetic niceties as rhyme and metre.” Read more.

It features an illustration by Tom Bachtell and also a mention to the poems Daniel wrote under the pen name Jacob Gershon.
As he passed the cash registers, Radcliffe spotted a copy of Ginsberg’s “Howl and Other Poems” next to a copy of “Naked Lunch,” whose author, William Burroughs, also appears as a character in “Kill Your Darlings.” Radcliffe recalled reading “Naked Lunch” when he was fourteen, and having a visceral reaction to it. “I felt somewhat physically ill—which I imagine is not far from what Burroughs wanted,” he said. He didn’t get around to “Howl” until he was sixteen. “As soon as I got beyond three pages, I found myself in ‘What the fuck?’ territory.”
(The article was already published back in 2013, but I don't remember I have read it before)

Kill Your Darlings.

Kill Your Darlings DVD & Blu-ray US release date

Kill Your Darlings DVD & Blu-ray US release date
Kill Your Darlings will be available on DVD & Blu-ray in the US on 18th March, released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Synopsis:

When Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), is accepted at Columbia, he finds stuffy tradition clashing with daringly modern ideas and attitudes—embodied by Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan). Lucien is an object of fascination for shy, unsophisticated Allen, and soon he is drawn into Lucien’s hard-drinking, jazz-clubbing circle of friends, including William Burroughs (Ben Foster), the dissolute scion of a wealthy family, and David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall), an older hanger-on who clearly resents Allen’s position as Lucien’s new sidekick. A true story of friendship, love and murder, Kill Your Darlings recounts the pivotal year that changed Allen Ginsberg's life forever and provided the spark for him to start his creative revolution.

Blu-ray and DVD bonus features include:
- “On the Red Carpet at the Toronto Film Festival”
- Commentary with Daniel Radcliffe, Dane DeHaan, John Krokidas and Austin Bunn
- “In Conversation with Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan”
- Q&A with Director/Co-Writer John Krokidas and Co-Writer Austin Bunn
- Deleted Scenes

Kill Your Darlings has a runtime of approximately 103 minutes and is rated R for sexual content, language, drug use and brief violence.

"Daniel Radcliffe is full of vitality. Dane DeHaan is hot and dangerous."
