As my 17th birthday approaches (!), I would like to appeal to my wonderful fans and ask that instead of sending me presents, they might like to make a donation, however small, to Demelza House. It really makes a huge difference to this remarkable place which I have supported for several years and I am very touched that so many fans have already taken such an active interest by donating or fund raising. Page from danradcliffe.co.uk has announced their annual Demelza House fundraiser in honour of Daniel's 17th Birthday on 23rd July. It's called Kaleidoscope for Kids and you can join! Your contribution will become part of their woven kaleidoscope for kids which will be hung in Demelza House.

Update: From his June 2006 newsletter:

"As many of you know, my birthday wish as indicated on the danradcliffe.com and danradcliffe.co.uk websites is that instead of fans sending me a gift (which I do appreciate) they may like to make a donation to Demelza House, the children's hospice I have supported for several years. It really does make a difference to this special place. I am aware that some people like to do both - please don't - it makes me feel bad that you are spending money on me when it could be going to a much worthier place - or treat yourself! It is also impossible for me to acknowledge individual gifts now, due to the sheer volume of fanmail. I do hope you understand."

I love it. Until recently, I'd seen a peek of it in the catalogue, but not actually seen the real thing. "It was strange seeing myself as I was two years ago, not as I am now.
