TV Guide interview
Daniel and Kim Cattrall spoke to TV Guide about their roles in My Boy Jack. Kim from her home in New York and Daniel from the UK set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

TVGuide.com: My Boy Jack was a hit in England. What’s it about?
Kim Cattrall: It’s a story about how war affects a family, in this case the writer Rudyard Kipling’s family during World War I. I play his amazing American wife Carrie.
Daniel Radcliffe: For my character, Jack Kipling, it’s about finding a source of escape from his famous father. He must overcome physical problems that could keep him from joining the army, because he wants to prove himself to be a man. It’s quite relevant today.

The Wall Street Journal interview
There is a new interview from the The Wall Street Journal online.

The Wall Street Journal: The roles you've played outside of Harry Potter don't have much in common with the boy wizard. Are you consciously looking for parts that are a departure from the role you're best known for?
Daniel Radcliffe: Realistically, if another seven-film fantasy series came along tomorrow I probably wouldn't do it. I don't think that would be the smartest career move in terms of separating myself and having people see me as an actor as opposed to a character.

Updated: My Boy Jack at FIPA Festival (winner)
Daniel was very proud, and rightfully so, to have been part of the cast of the beautifully scripted and poignantly acted movie My Boy Jack last year, therefore I imagine that he and his co-stars must be pleased that the made for television movie is one of the competitive selections being shown at the 21st FIPA Festival - The International Festival of Audiovisual Programs - being held this year in Biarritz, France. According to the festival's official schedule, My Boy Jack will be shown on Thursday January 24, and again on Friday January 25.

Update:
My Boy Jack Won the FIPA D'OR Grand prize for best screenplay. See all winners here.

Movie Tie-In edition of My Boy Jack (UK)
There is a UK Movie Tie-In edition of the book My Boy Jack? by Tonie and Valmai Holt. It's published by Pen & Sword Military. It's also available as eBook.

Pages: 256
ISBN: 9781844157044

Description:
Republished to coincide with the new ITV film, My Boy Jack? starring Daniel Radcliffe, this is the full account of the tragic life of John 'Jack" Kipling. On 27th September 1915 John Kipling, the only son of Britain's best loved poet, disappeared during the Battle of Loos. The body lay undiscovered for 77 years. Then, in a most unusual move, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC)re-marked the grave of an unknown Lieutenant of the Irish Guards, as that of John Kipling. There is considerable evidence that John's grave has been wrongly identified and for the first time in this book, the authors name the soldier they believe is buried in 'John's grave'. This is the first biography of John's short life, analysing the devastating effect it had on his famous father's work.

"In your new film, My Boy Jack, you play a WW1 soldier. How were the trenches? Exhilarating. Conditions were tough; there were mud, rats and we were soaked by rain machines. It was Glastonbury all over again - but with guns."

Dan about My Boy Jack
It was announced at the Edinburgh International Television Festival that Daniel will star in My Boy Jack. Daniel :
For many people my age, the first world war is just a topic in a history book. But, I've always been fascinated by the subject and think its as relevant today as it ever was with young men all over the world still sacrificing their lives in the name of war."
"I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like in the trenches, living amongst the stench of death and knowing that at any moment it may be your last. But, I think its important we try to imagine the horrors these young men experienced and to never forget them."

"I am extremely proud to be part of the production of My Boy Jack and only hope I can do justice to the memory of the men who fought and those who died."
